Oh, I know that this may not be what sweet Gretchen ever intended for our dear Matilda Muffinbread, but tis the season and I could not resist. Forgive me, Gretchen! This darling fairy comes complete with her own treat. But, would you take it or would you risk her trick?

Sparkle's colors are: Apricot Appeal, Basic Black, Only Orange, and Going Gray.

I hope you have good plans for tomorrow! Things are always crazy in our office on Halloween. The founder of our company was born on October 31 and it's tradition for us to have a big celebration. Many people dress up and a few people bring in elaborate carved pumpkins. There are cash prizes, crafts to make, and everyone trick or treats from cubicle to cubicle. Then, at 11:00, we all go back to work. Boy, is that hard! But, it's a lot of fun and I always look forward to seeing the pumpkins, especially the ones that the artists make.

Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by the blog!

My First Tilda and Some News

Here is my firstTilda card. She's a sweet image. I finally broke down and ordered one...or ten...a few weeks ago.

I have a couple of bits of news to share so bear with me for a minute, if you will. The first is that there will be a new Bella challenge introduced on the SCS Bella forum on Saturday. Laura will be hosting a challenge on the first Saturday of each month called "Bella's Favorite Stamper." Each month, one stamper will be chosen and the rest of the sistahs will choose one Bella card from that sistah's gallery to CASE. The featured sistah will receive a $20 credit from Emily's store! I'm so excited about this challenge. We have talented sistahs out there and I can't wait to start recognizing them! If you'd like to be a featured stamper, just use a Bella stamp to make a card and upload it to the SCS site using the keyword bellas or stampingbellas. We'll be looking through the galleries and choosing a different stamper each month. See? Easy and fun!

The second bit of news is that Sparkle has decided she will not be doing the color challenges anymore. She has so many new stamping adventures in store for her that her talents will be taking her to new places. We are so grateful that we have had her as long as we have. On Thursday, Nov. 13, I will begin hosting the color challenges. I am excited to start this new stamping adventure of my own. I love my Bellahs and am eager to support my sistahs in any way that I can.

The last piece of news is personal. Two weeks from today I will be attending the Conference for Second Grade Teachers in Orlando, Florida. Do you know what that means? That means that two weeks from Saturday I will be going to Disneyworld for the first time in my life...all by myself! I'm so, so excited! I have always wanted to go! My family has lived all over the United States, I even lived in Tampa, but I have never been to Disneyworld. I will be at the conference on Thursday and Friday and then I'll be at the park on Saturday. I don't mind going by myself, that's how it has worked out and that's okay with me. If you live in Orlando and you know of any stamp stores I can get to on Thursday or Friday night, please let me know. That's my kind of magical trip!

That reminds me of a story. Some church friends of ours went to Disney recently. They have the cutest two year-old daughter named Maggie. The cutest, believe me. Anyway, Maggie wanted to meet Cinderella as soon as they walked into Magic Kingdom so, of course, they did. For the rest of the day, every time they saw Cinderella, Maggie would wave and yell, "Hey, Cinderella, It's me, Maggie!" She was so frustrated that Cinderella didn't remember her! I love that.

Oh, if you're still reading this post, you really are my friend! Don't forget to check Em's store. She has a BUNCH of new stamps and she is offering free shipping on orders over $45 through November 4!

Have a great night!

Nebraska on my Mind

I love life in NC, but I lived in Nebraska for many years. In fact, I graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, I'm a Cornhusker on paper! I went to high school in Nebraska and I taught there for ten years. One of my favorite things about life in Nebraska, other than the Henry Doorly zoo and the wonderful people, was a good old snow day! So, I made this card in honor of snow days, which I don't get here in NC! Alexis is cuddled up in her bathrobe while the Snowfight image is showing a little bit more energy. :)

Don't forget to stop by the Bella Forum and give the sketch a run. This is Jamie's 52nd Bella sketch, which means that she's been doing the sketches for a whole year! Thanks, Jamie, you're awesome!

Have a Sweet Day!

Today's featured stamper had so many fun cards to choose from! I chose this one. It's funny, I didn't put a cupcake on the cupcake challenge card, but I did put a cupcake on this one. Don't you love the font they've used with this set? I do!

Can't believe the weekend is gone already--and that Halloween is just around the corner. Boy, where does the time go? Hope you've had a great weekend!

Merry Christmas, Myrtle Beach Style!

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love the ocean. It is one of the best things about being living back home in North Carolina. Last year, my family and I packed everything up--tree stockings, gifts, elderly grandmother, young nieces, and headed to the Prince Resort in Cherry Grove, SC for Christmas. We had such a wonderful time! There is something incredible about waking up on Christmas morning and spotting dolphins off the pier as you are looking out of your balcony window. Sigh...I just love it!

This year, we are headed back to Cherry Grove for Christmas. Hey, it works for me! When I saw Taylor's challenge, I immediately thought of beachy images. But, I built the card around this bright, fun ribbon I bought at Michael's It looks like it it was made for a beach card to me.

Do you have any special plans for Christmas, new unique traditions? Old unique traditions? I'd love to hear about them. There is nothing like Christmas. Have a great Sunday afternoon!

Hey, speaking of unique and fun Christmas, how about a snowman cupcake card? Or a sweet reindeer cuppie on your holiday cards? Check out Taylor's new release, the stamps are all so adorable and unusual. I can not wait to get my order!

Rainy Day in NC

It's raining today which is great for the grass but not good for my golfer husband. I'm so excited because tonight is the Red/White game for our NC State basketball boys! I love college basketball, especially my NC State Wolfpack. Brent and I will be taking my mom and dad over to Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh to see the game. It should be a lot of fun for them because my dad loves the Wolfpack (he graduated from State) and Reynolds Coliseum is the place where my parents met way back when they were in high school. I think that's pretty cool! Go Pack!

Trick or Treat...

Tomorrow is Friday! Hooray for Friday! But, today is color challenge day on the Bella Forum. Sparkle chose Old Olive, Really Rust, Basic Black, and Elegant Eggplant. I chose to combine the color challenge card with the sketch challenge from yesterday, since I missed it. :)

This card will make the perfect birthday card for one of my coworkers. Her birthday is on Halloween day. Thanks for visiting the blog tonight. Hope you have a great Friday! Don't forget that Taylor will be releasing new cupcake stamps tonight. I am so excited!

Ahoy There, Land Lovers!

This is a sad, sad week for stampers who are still on land. You see, the stampers' cruise left port this week, taking hundreds of happy stampers with it. In fact, they're probably happily stamping right now. Sigh...

In honor of those happy stampers, Shannan challenged us to make a water-themed Bella card. Well, I thought of Little Johnny Depster immediately because he's a pirate! Ah-ha! He can go and get one of those wonderful stamper goody bags for me!

Shannan wanted us to use some water on our card so I watercolored my image; then I used this fabulous underwater paper from Heidi Grace Designs. Finally, I incorporated some Pacific Point and Baja Breeze cardstock into the card. I do hope they're having a good time. I just wish they would bring one of those goody bags back to me! :)

Have a great night!

Beth, Jo, or Amy?

Something about this image reminds me of the Little Women by Louis May Alcott. I don't know, maybe it's the shoes. Because it makes me think of Little Women, I wanted to make a card that was antique-looking. I'm happy with the way it turned out, such a sweet image! I'll be eager to play with it again--maybe next time I'll make her look like Thoroughly Modern Millie! LOL!

For Two Lucky Ducks in Love

I have a friend who has a thing about ducks. She really loves 'em. Well, she got engaged last week and I wanted to make a card for her, but this is the best duck stamp I have. So, of course, I had to use it. I know it's not very "engage-y", but it is very ducky and that will be just fine by her, I think.

Oh, I just can't believe that it's Sunday night already! Where does the time go? It was a good weekend, though. Can't wait for the next one! ;)

Delight in Life

ETA My sweet friend Laurel stopped by to remind me that I could use this card to enter her Blog candy contest. If you haven't been to her blog lately, be sure to check it out...her cards are so lovely! Congratulations on your milestone, Laurel!

Today's featured stamper challenge inspired me to get out an SU set that I haven't played with for a long time. I'm so glad! I chose this card to CASE.

This is the first time I have used these two pieces of hardware and I'm not sure how I like them. Honestly, I couldn't figure out how to get them over the edge of the paper before. :( Today, I pried the sides apart with my Pampered Chef scraper and then quickly slipped the cardstock in between the hardware. Does that make sense? LOL!

And Witchy Makes Three...

Laura challenged us to make a Halloween card that doesn't use any ribbon. I am just stuck on this Little Witchy image I guess!

Isn't this the best paper? I love it. It's all sparkly and spooky. I don't normally make Halloween cards, but I guess I'll have to make at least a couple this year so I can use up this great paper.

Happy Birthday, Amy!

Today has been some kind of day...oh my. But making this birthday card for my friend Amy has made me feel better. I really do love these Georgia Peach colors. Isn't this sketch funky and fun?

The stamp is from Stamp a Sweet Impressions, Sweet Celebrations. Taylor will be releasing new stamps on October 24. I am so excited! I love her cupcake stamps. I'm hoping that she might have some Christmas stamps up her sleeve. Can you picture a sweet cupcake with holly leaves on the top maybe? I would love that! We'll have to wait and see....

Wait, What Month is It?

I had to post two views of this card so you could see this wonderful shiny paper...isn't it the best? I think it's perfect for Belinda Bumberboots. But, shouldn't there be a Halloween card or a Christmas card here? Hmmm....have I ever told you about my job? I write and edit magazines and resource materials for teachers. The thing is that, right now, I'm working on the publications for April/May. It's so confusing, I'm telling you! I've been there for nine years and I'm still not used to it. Today, I was writing activities about jelly beans, frogs, and Easter eggs. So, when I come home, of course I'm ready to make a card about an umbrella girl! It's very disorienting...

This is a special card. It's based on Jamie's 50th Bella Sketch Challenge! I'm so impressed by her talents. Whew! She gives us the best stuff to work with. I love doing her sketches.

Tomorrow night is the Bella Monster Bash in the Bella Forum. Please join us there!

A Little Bird Told Me...

Tonight's featured stamper challenge was fun! Anne's gallery is filled with lots of colorful images and cute, cute cards. I chose the Georgia Peach colors--aren't they great? I love this tiled paper! Anne's card even had buttons on it. My favorite!

Tomorrow is Columbus Day. I hope you have all of your gift shopping done. :) I'll be at work, but there won't be any mail, one of those weird holidays. One year, we should all just do something crazy and fun for Columbus Day. I miss stuff like that from my days in the classroom, I don't get to color ships in a bottle on Columbus Day anymore. Pretty in Pink

There aren't any cupcakes to be found on this cupcake challenge card, but isn't she the sweetest girl? I love the shoes on these Whipper Snapper Design girls! (Check out Queen Abigail here.)

Taylor's sketch has lots of circles. I really think those are some of my favorite sketches to do. I didn't add a sentiment yet because I wasn't sure which type I wanted. This could be a birthday card or it could go along with a small thank-you gift. I think I'll wait until I need it to put the sentiment on. The circular sketch gave me a chance to play with my new piercing template from Bazzill. It's circular, obviously, and very slippery, lol!, but it worked pretty well.

Our trip to the stamping store was a success. I didn't buy any stamps but had some luck finding fun papers including these by Heidi Grace. Thanks so much for stopping by the blog!

Direct to Paper....Really?

My goodness, it's been such a long time since I made a card that didn't require coloring that I almost don't know how to handle it. I have been wanting to use this new dp ever since I bought it so I thought I'd give it a whirl tonight. Then I made such a large image that I covered it all up. What's up with that? I will be making something else with this dp very soon, it is so pretty!

Welcome Home!

What a fun day! I took a vacation day today for no reason. Brent's out of town and I thought I could stamp and get some things done. And, I did! I did some spot-cleaning on the carpet--that was a party, let me tell you--and I did some stamping. A good day, all in all.

Especially For You

Apricot Appeal is one of my favorite colors. It's the perfect yellow-y orange. When you put it with Cameo Coral, it's such a pretty combination. I saw this card in the gallery and decided to CASE it because I knew I could use these two colors.

I changed the image, the sentiment, the ribbon, and the tag's shape. Then I stamped the Cameo Coral cardstock because I didn't have a dp that worked as well as the original card's. Finally, I CB'd the background piece. This is a good all-occasion card and I'm happy to add it to my stash.
