A Day Late, but an Important Card

Whew! Did you ever have one of those Mondays? Yesterday was one of those Mondays for me. But, today is Tuesday and Monday is behind us. :)

So, I'm here with the sketch challenge card that I didn't get to yesterday. Isn't this just the best sketch?! I think it's perfect for Ella and her friends! I love my Copic markers, but I wanted to give my colored pencils a shot on this card. I still need a lot of practice, but I had a good time.

I double-stamped the pig, the bird, and the giraffe's head. Then I colored them, cut them out, and used dimensionals to pop them out. I want to try to start doing more of that because I really like the look of it. Hope you have a great Wednesday!

Act Quickly--This is a Great Chance!

Want a watercolor? Not by me! :)

My friend Christy is beginning an artistic adventure so she is cleaning out her watercolor workshop. Christy is the creative genius behind our beloved Tiddly Inks stamps. You can find her watercolor sale here. The paintings are few and one of a kind so you have to be quick.

I bought a couple, including one of sweet white kitties who look just like our Lily. (That's Lily at the top of this post.) I can't wait to get my pictures! Enjoy!

Give a Hoot!

Happy Sunday! What a busy weekend, can't believe Monday is just right around the corner. But, I think The Amazing Race starts tonight. It is my favorite reality TV show. I think it's so exciting! Can't wait to see it.

For today's featured stamper challenge, I chose this card. I couldn't wait to use this new stamp by Rachel Anne Miller (I just got it this week, isn't it the cutest thing?) I changed the image, the sentiment, and the ribbon. But, I kept the rest of the card pretty close to Terry's.

Hopefully, you've had a great weekend. My NC State Wolfpack lost miserably to the South Florida Bulls last night. Miserably. Hopefully, they will get themselves together this week. Those poor guys...that has to be hard.

Okay, have a great Monday and then come join us for the Bella Sketch Challenge! Take care!

Peek-a-boo!

I chose the baby's room out of all of the photographs. I can't believe it, out of all of the dp I have, but I wanted to paper-piece the baby's sleeper out of animal print and I don't have any! How funny would that be? Time for a shopping trip! Instead, I dug out a piece of my coveted retired Mint Melody paper and worked from there.

This is such a fun stamp set! I love the baby's toes. Thanks for stopping by the blog tonight!

Chocolate or Vanilla?

Whew! Yay for Fridays! Happy Cupcake Day! This is the first time I've actually finished a card for the cupcake challenge on Friday so I already feel like I'm ahead of the game. I got to play with a new toy, some sparkle fibers on this card. I like them a lot! The owner of my LSS warned me that they would get everywhere, "even more than glitter", she said. LOL! Well, as a former elementary teacher I am terrified of glitter! So, I was cautious with these sparkle fibers.

I put the white liquid applique on the large cupcake then I reached into the fiber bag and took out the fiber by small pinches. I sprinkled it onto the liquid applique carefully then I turned the heat gun onto the applique. You can see the results. They really are shiny and fun.

A Bit Unuusal

Now, here's something different. One of the copyeditors in our office is really into Halloween. She was born on October 31. She and her boyfriend got engaged last year on Halloween and, next week, we are throwing a Halloween-themed bridal shower for her. I wanted to make a quick, silly card for them, but I'm not real big on Halloween and my choices are sort of limited (anybody remember the SU Costume Bears? I've got 'em! No witches or things like that, though). I played around some--colored my HitchedaFella stamp as the Bride of Frankenstein and Frankenstein, stuff like that. But, I just wasn't sure of anything that I tried.

So, I went to Michael's, did some looking around, bought some dollar stamps and some jack o' lantern stickers and this is what I've come up with. I wanted her to look like she has a bouquet, what do you think? And, I'm hoping the veil looks more matrimonial than old ladyish. This has been an interesting experiment for me. Do you ever notice that you learn something new with each card that you make? Well, either way, I hope they like it!

New Fuzzy Fun

Happy Almost-Friday! Sparkle is in Europe on her honeymoon, but she prepared all of the color challenges before she left. Isn't she something? Tonight, I used DaisyBella just so I could play with the flower soft for the first time. I used the Russet Red because it was close to Ruby Red, one of the color challenge colors. It was easy to use and I like the way it looks.

The color challenge colors are Ruby Red, Regal Rose, Gable Green, and Taken With Teal.

Head over to Cammie's Blog if you haven't yet. Tomorrow is the deadline. Hooray, that means tomorrow is Friday! I love Friday! :) Take care!

A Trio of Flowers

I'm not entirely happy with my mojo tonight, but this is the card that is making its way to the blog. When I saw the sketch challenge this morning, I was sure that this stamp would be perfect, but I'm doubting my choice now. I think it is too wide for the sketch. On the bright side, I had a great time watercoloring the image and it gave me a chance to use one of my favorite color combinations.

I hope you're doing well tonight. Please don't forget to make a card for Cammie's Cause. There are still a couple of days, plenty of time.

Hmm....Random and Fun?

Good evening! I'm working on some things, but nothing is quite ready for the blog. In the meantime, my friend Laurel has tagged me. (Have you been to Laurel's blog? Oh my, she makes the most beautiful cards! You should go visit her now instead of reading this silly post! LOL!)

I'm supposed to follow these rules:

1. Link your tagger and list these rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
4. Let them know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Let's see, 7 facts:

1. We don't have any children but every Sunday, my husband and I keep the 7 to 16 month old babies at our church. He's so good with those babies, even though he had never held one until he started working with us six years ago. After the the nursery, we go to the service and then we go to Longhorn and eat lunch. Every Sunday for years now. Same restaurant, same waitress! LOL!
2. My favorite author is Laura Ingalls Wilder.
3. I collect seashell stamps. Even though they start looking the same, I keep buying them. I can't explain it.
4. I love good reality television. My favorites are The Amazing Race, Survivor, and Project Runway.
5. My two favorite movies are Dirty Dancing and Fried Green Tomatoes. I could watch Dirty Dancing a million times! I think I may have, in fact.
6. My dad was in the Air Force for 30 years and I've lived all over the place. I was born in CA. Since then I've lived in Puerto Rico, MI, AL, VA, NE, TX, LA, and FL, among others.
7. I got married the day after my 40th birthday. It took a long time for Brent and I to find each other but I'm sure glad he waited for me and I'm grateful that I found him! Wait, is that a weird fact or a random fact? I don't know, I had no idea that this would be this hard. I think I'll stick with these.

Now for the harder part. I'm supposed to tag seven others? Yikes! I think my group has been tagged, Laurel! But, I can tag Vicki and, if you're reading this and you'd like to play, please do. Just leave a comment and let us know that you've got a list for us to read. I know yours will be more fun than mine is!

Have a great evening and please don't forget to check in with Cammie's Blog. She's got a prayer request that needs our attention tonight.

Take care!

There's Still Lots of Time

Don't forget to visit Cammie's blog and get all the details for the World Alzheimer's Day event she has organized. It's an incredible opportunity for stampers to show some love to caregivers and the prize Cammie has put together is just unreal. Take some time out this week, you'll be glad you did!

For the Soccer Mom

Here's a birthday card for a friend who is a real-live soccer mom. This was a hard stamp to work with only because it has so much white on it. I had to go with a lot of Carolina Blue on the card as this woman is one of those diehard Tarheel fans. Sigh...I sure have to put up with a lot of those! LOL! Because my posts will keep pushing this down, I'm going to add it each time. Don't forget to check out Cammie's blog this week to read about the World Alzheimer's Event she has organized. Thanks so much!

A Card for a Cause

I'm so proud to be a stamper. It thrills me to think of stampers all over the world taking time out this week to make cards for people who take care of Alzheimer's patients. Kudos to Cammie for organizing this awesome event. Be sure to check out her blog for all of the information and then you can make a card (or cards) too!

This is my first card for the project. I don't have anyone in my family to send it to, so I'll be sending mine to:

To the Staff at the Artman Home
250 N. Bethlehem Pike
Ambler, PA 19002

I actually CASEd myself on this card. I made a card for my mom a couple of months ago and I thought it would be the perfect card to send to these caregivers. After all, who's the best caregiver I know? My mom.

Stampers Making a Difference

Good Morning! I'll be back with a card (or two!) later today. But I'm here now asking you to visit Cammie's blog. In honor of her grandmother, she has put together an incredible event for World Alzheimer's Day. There's a big opportunity for stampers to show some love to caregivers and there is a huge prize! Thanks so much and I'll see you later!

Flowers for Amy

There aren't any cupcakes on today's cupcake challenge card, but this card is for Amy. My good friend Amy is one of those rare folks who doesn't like sweets. I know, I don't understand it either, but we love her just the same. This sketch is perfect for this fun flower pot.

Oh, I can't end this post without telling you (because I know you're dying to know!) The NC State Wolfpack beat the ECU Pirates today in Raleigh! Hooray! It was such a big deal. I felt bad for the Pirates because they were having such a great year. But I felt great for our boys and for our new coach. It was a fun day to be at Carter-Findley Football Stadium. Go Pack!

Boo!

Here's the second card from Wednesday's Bella Bash. Jamie challenged us to CASE a card from Laura's gallery. I chose this one. I changed the image, the colors, and the sentiment. Then I changed the embellishment. I kept the sketch and the theme. I had a great time with this one and it gave me a chance to ink up another Tiddly Inks favorite. Hopefully, Laura and her family are getting things back together after Ike.

Today we are headed back to Raleigh for another football game. The ECU Pirates are coming to town. They are already on a big winning streak and it looks like another rough day for my Wolfpack. As they say around here, there is no love lost between ECU and NC State. I didn't truly understand this until they beat us on the basketball court last year. That broke my heart, really broke my heart. I may not be over it yet. So, we'll get in the car and go support the team. I believe they can win, but I am ready for anything. I think. I hope you have a good day and that your team does well!

A Fall Fairy

Last night, Sparkle and Jamie hosted a September Bella Bash in the SCS Bella Forum. We had a fun time chatting, but we missed Jenn and Laura. Sparkle gave us a color challenge with a fall theme so I decided to use my Twinkle Fairy stamp. But, I wanted to give her a special fall twist. I masked out her sparkles and added some fall leaves to the card. Now she is the Fall Fairy! What a fun stamp!

A New Sketch to Love

I love Jen Del Muro's blog. What's not to love? She is incredibly creative and talented, she is a former elementary school teacher, and she posts sweet pictures of her daughter. Three things I really like in a person.

Every Saturday, Jen posts a new sketch. In fact, she's had sketches in at least two of the latest Stampington publications. Isn't that something? I've been meaning to get into these sketches but, when I saw what Jen had in mind today, I knew she was playing my tune! Jen challenged her blog readers to use holiday Stamping Bella stamps in her sketch today. Hey, I just happen to have a few Stamping Bella stamps laying around my stamping room! So I decided to give it a go!

Sweet Cupcakes for the Morning After

Good Morning! It's been a long night...many of you know that I lived and worked on Galveston Island for two years before I moved here to NC. Those folks have been heavy on my mind over the last 24 hours. Galveston is such a fascinating place. On a happy note, Jenn left a post on her blog saying that she and her family are safe in Austin this morning.

Now, onto Taylor's Cupcake Challenge. I was lucky enough to get to use Taylor's new set of stamps, Sweet Celebration to make this card. I have to say, I have not used so much white on a card before, but I think it works out. It will make a sweet birthday card for a young girl.

Have you checked out Taylor's new stamps yet? They are the cutest! But the purchase I am totally thrilled with is the binder box! What an awesome creation this is! I only ordered one this time, but when Taylor releases some new stamps, I will order some more of these boxes: at least one for my Gina K. stamps and one for my Unity stamps. They're just so sleek and convenient--and reasonably priced! Love them!

Thanks for visiting and I hope that you are safe and happy this morning. Oh, and the NC State Wolfpack is in Clemson this morning. It doesn't seem as important as it did, but send them a cheer if you're into that sort of thing, won't you? The Clemson Tigers are tough. Thanks!

Hold on to Each Other

Today, Sparkle's color challenge card was a tribute of sorts to the first responders of 9/11. Me, being the big mushy bag of emotions that I am, took the colors and the theme as the challenge. In fact, I was so into it that I stamped the image this morning and packed it, along with a handful of Copic Markers, in my lunch bag so I could color it while I ate my sandwich. Here's what I came up with.

There are so many images in my mind when I think of 9/11. I've never been to Ground Zero, but I've been to the Pentagon many times. Somehow, thoughts of 9/11 are linked with the Murrah bombing. I've visited that Memorial too--my parents lived in Oklahoma City for many years. But, when I see how this card turned out, I guess it reminds me more of the Viet Nam wall than anything else. I hope it's okay for me to say that, that it's not too much of an overstatement. My father was in the Air Force for 30 years. He served several tours in Viet Nam and the Wall is a powerful image for me. So, I guess this is the memorial image that comes to my mind today.

The colors for the color challenge are: Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, Not Quite Navy, and Going Gray

Enough to Share

Here's a fun birthday card for my new coworker! The first thing I noticed when she came to interview was her Vera Bradley bag. I knew that I wanted to use this paper on her card because it reminds me of a Vera Bradley print. There's something else about this card that makes me really happy...I ordered this stamp set on Monday morning. It arrived today (talk about speedy shipping!) and I am using it today! I love that--it makes me feel so good about the purchase. Oh, and the fact that the whole cupcake set costs $7 doesn't hurt either. You have to love Unity Stamps. They really have figured out how to make great stamps for reasonable prices.

I'm still trying to figure out this new camera of mine. For some reason, I can't get it to pick up the glitter I've used to coat these cupcakes. They really are fun and sparkly. I hope she likes them. Thanks so much for looking!

Lauren's Going to be a Big Sister!

Tonight's Sketch Challenge was perfect timing for me. I need a baby gift card for my cube mate, and good friend, who will be having her second baby on September 18. Technically, it's for her husband too, who is an artist who also works for our company. Congratulations to the three of them, I mean the four of them!

I paper-pieced her top and the gift bags, then I colored the rest of the image with my Copic Markers. I used my sewing machine to add a border to the card and to the image.

Look, Ma! No Stamps!

One thing that makes me happy is learning a great new stamping trick. Today, I discovered this pattern. How awesome is it? Check out the original card by CardCrazy. I was drawn to it immediately. I have always loved dresses, I think it's a throwback to my Barbie days. I used to collect dress stamps and I think it's why I was originally taken by the Bellas.

I changed the dp's and the ribbon. I pierced the punched corners instead of putting brads in them. Then I decided that my card needed a punch of color, so I added some scalloped circles and my favorite embellishment of all--buttons! This dress is so great--and it wasn't really that hard! What a great find!

To follow up yesterday's post, and because I know you're dying to know...the Wolfpack brought home the "W", as my husband says. Whew! Go Pack! We were pretty happy! Last year was a rough season for our boys and this year looks to be more of the same. (We got a great new coach last year and there are lots of transition pains.) So, we'll take a win when one comes our way, especially a win at home.

We're Gonna Need More Cake!

This morning, I am trying something new. Taylor VanBruggen released her first stamp sets yesterday and I am so excited for her! I'm not a big Halloween person, so I'm still thinking about the Halloween cupcake set (oh, but those creature cupcakes are adorable!), but I had to order the Sweet Celebration set right away! And, check out the binder system she's designed. It looks awesome! (Check out her ribbon too, I'm already a big fan!)

So, in honor of her release, I decided to take on my first Cupcake Challenge. I wanted to use a set with a cupcake on it, of course. And, I wanted something peeking out in the circles, so I turned to one of my favorite birthday sets, Farm Animals from Pink Cat Studios.

Today is a big day here. We are getting good rain from Hanna--we sure need it! And, I am having one of my infrequent SU parties, so that should be fun. Then, we are supposed to go to Raleigh to see my beloved NC State Wolfpack take on William and Mary. We're hoping for a better showing than we had last week against South Carolina. But, if it's too rainy, I may have to sit this one out, as much as I love my team.

Have a great day! I hope you're getting rain too, if you need it. And I hope that you're safe and that your team wins today, unless you're pulling for William and Mary!
