A Happy Group Hug

Today's featured stamper is Nikie and she has such beautiful cards! I chose this one to CASE. I changed the image, the sentiment, and the CB embossing folder. Then I used green instead of red as my focus color. I also added a couple of snowflake embellishments--I just felt like it needed a little flakiness. :)

Tomorrow is Labor Day and it's hard to figure out where the summer went. I hope everyone has a good holiday. The folks along the Gulf Coast are heavy on my mind this weekend. When I lived in Galveston, there was only one weekend when we thought of evacuation. In the end, I decided to stay. The storm was unlike anything I've seen, but it was nothing like the folks in New Orleans have seen. We are praying for them.

Bella Rosa Daisy

The new Stampin' Up colors are so much fun! Pink Pirouette is probably my favorite, but I love Red Riding Hood too. Bella Rosa DP is a great mixture of Pink Pirouette, Red Riding Hood, and Kiwi Kiss. Here's a quick, simple card I can show my SU customers. I like it because it uses such a simple stamp, yet it's fun and colorful. I hope they like it too. Thanks for stopping by!

Stamps: SU Upsy Daisy, Warm Words
Ink: SU Kiwi Kiss, Basic Black
Papers: SU Kiwi Kiss, Red Riding Hood, Whisper White, Bella Rosa DP
Accessories: SU circle punches, SU scallop circle punch, stamping dimensionals, SU button

Green Silhouettes

Green is my favorite color. Well, I do love pink, but green is great too! So, today I wanted to make a card that was all green. SU has so many great greens to choose from: Certainly Celery, Gable Green, Green Galore,, Old Olive so many! But, today, I'm using Garden Green and Mellow Moss. I wanted to use one of the sets that's on sale so I'll have a quick, simple card to show my customers. Pocket Silhouettes made this card a really quick one! What fun!

When the Mojo hits...

Stamp it! I was all set to settle in for the evening. My beloved NC State Wolfpack is playing their season opener on ESPN. National political history is being made on another channel, well, there's a lot of TV-watching to do tonight. But, as I was checking in on Sparkle's color challenge one more time, I was hit by inspiration, or something as close to it as I get! So, I thought I'd just color the image and, all of a sudden, I had a card.

The colors for the challenge are: Creamy Caramel, Basic Black, Perfect Plum, and Lavender Lace.

This time I won't be back until Saturday. Honest. Happy Friday, friends!

Now, I think this is much better, don't you? This will work well for a workshop card. We've got pastels and two SU punches involved. I even used the SU Color Coach to help work out my color combo problem. I like it, hope they do. Hope you do too!

Tomorrow evening, my husband and I will be out of town for a friend's funeral. Take care of yourself and I'll see you on Saturday! Thanks so much for stopping by!

I know, I know, I'm supposed to be preparing for an SU party But, when I saw today's SCS sketch challenge, well, you know how weak I am when I see an opportunity to break out my beachy stamps...

This is the first time I have played with my Peerless watercolors. They are really concentrated--a little goes a long way! I like them and I can see that I'll be using them a lot.

Christmas in August

It's time to get back to my stamping roots and, boy, does it have me thinking. After all of the exploring I have been doing over the past several months, it's difficult to think of a card in terms of supplies that are only made by SU but, I love my SU supplies and this new Christmas stamp set is one of the reasons why. Oops, guess I should start from the beginning. I'll be having one of my infrequent SU demos the first weekend in September so I want to start playing with my new stamps and deciding what to show the crew. This is an option, but probably not something I'll stick with. The hostess requested a Christmas card and I want to show the pastels, but I'm not entirely happy with this color combo. I think it's the Bashful Blue that throws it off. Glad I started early! :)

I almost forgot to post an update from the Bella Back to School Bash. I was fortunate enough to win one of the challenges, can you believe that? All of the cards were so creative and cool! I think Shannan was being extra kind to me because it was my birthday, or maybe it was the Tiddly Inks image that charmed her. Either way, I was so surprised and pleased that she chose my card. Thanks, Shannan and Jamie for hosting such a fun party! I can't wait for the next one.

This is the first time I've used the Copic Airbrush system and I can't believe how much I love it. I may be asking Santa for an air compressor this Christmas!

Oh, it is way too late for me to be awake, but I had to get this card finished once I started it. At the Bella Bash, Jamie challenged us to make a card that solved this math problem: 3 + 4. A New Use for an Old Favorite

We had a great time at the Bella Bash last night, hope you made it! Shannan gave us a fun challenge and, contrary to my personality, I decided to start with it even though it's the second one. The challenge is to use school of office supplies on your card. Well, no doubt about it, my favorite of these is sticky notes. I buy them in all shapes, sizes, and colors--but I've never used one on a card.

So, here's my submission. I paper-pieced the girls' dresses on the pastel-colored small sticky note blocks. Then I used the bright-colored thin strips to make a rainbow-colored ribbon below the girls. Finally, I added brads to the four corners. What fun! I think I'll use sticky notes on cards more often.

Tomorrow's Friday, hooray! I can't wait to start Jamie's challenge...see you then!

Today is my birthday, but tomorrow is our wedding anniversary! I made it easy for my husband, huh? :) I made a less frilly, more appropriate card for my husband about a month ago. But, I've been wanting to use this stamp so I decided to make a second anniversary card tonight. Maybe this sweet, pink card is I love pink and I love kids! I taught elementary school for 12 years and these Kid Quote stamps crack me up! Thanks for stopping by the blog, hope to see you later at the Bella Bash!

Better Late than Never?

Oh, I'm so late with this color challenge card, but I hated to miss it! The colors are Groovy Guava, Barely Banana, and Pretty in Pink. I decided to use Wedding Gown Circle, but I made it look more like a Sweet 16 card, or something like that. I used my brand new Threading Water punch under the sentiment. Isn't it fun? There's more new on the card. I stopped by my local stamp store today and found I Kan-Dees, a sheet of pastel buttons. I used two of the yellow ones and two of the pink ones on this card. I like them a lot! Thanks for stopping by the blog!

Don't miss the Bella Bash tomorrow night in the forum!

Nothing Could be Finer...

than to be back in Carolina! We're home! We had a great time in New York and the wedding was fabulous, but I'm grateful to be back home. Well, I'll be grateful until it's time to go to work in the morning! :)

I'm behind in the stamp room and I had planned to do the Bella Color Challenge this evening. But, I saw that Knightrone was the featured stamper today and I couldn't resist making a card in her honor. I love all of the cards she makes for Paper Pretties.

This is the card I chose to CASE. I changed the image and sentiment, the color, and the embellishment. I think this stamp is just adorable...

There will be some excitement this week on the Bella forum. On Wednesday night, we'll be having a back-to-school party complete with challenges and prizes. Wednesday is my birthday so I'm doubly excited. Hope to see you there!

The Big Apple!

Good Morning! I hope everyone is doing well this Friday morning! Brent and I are waking up in Long Island, New York. Yesterday, we left our house at 6:15 am and drove to Raleigh. From there, we flew into LaGuardia. By the time we got the rental car and got settled, we were pretty tired. Traveling is hard work--but always exciting to me! We're here for his nephew's wedding.

They had a beautiful rehearsal dinner last night in a restaurant that's located on a marina. We had wonderful italian food, way too much wonderful italian food! The wedding is tonight at 6. It's supposed to be a garden wedding, but it looks like rain.

Today is Bella Color Challenge day, but none of my rubber stamps made the trip. :( Hopefully, though, I may be visiting a rubber stamp store today. We are supposed to explore the town of Port Jefferson and it looks like there's one there. We'll see!

Have a great day, folks! Stamp something for me.

Stained Glass

I used to play with acetate a lot, but I haven't done anything with it for a while. Yesterday's technique challenge was new to me, but I wanted to give it a try. So, I got out my Flower Garden set from Papertrey Ink and made this card. I really like the look of the crystal effect paint on the acetate and I'll definitely try this again.

The blog may be post-free for a few days. Brent and I are going to New York for his nephew's wedding and I didn't get the chance to make any extra cards to post while I'm gone. We'll be back on Sunday. Have a great weekend!

Down on the Farm

Sunday is Featured Stamper Day on SCS. I chose this card to CASE. I think Kim's version is just beautiful. I have always loved hedgehogs. On my version of the card, I decided to use Pink Cat Studio's Farm Animal set. Every time these chicks show up, it's a party waiting to happen, they are so fun! I also changed the colors and the DP. Then I changed the embellishments and move them over to the circle.

Did you notice that I have a new camera? Hooray! Brent bought my a new Canon S5IS for my birthday and I am so excited. But, I'm having trouble figuring out the best settings for these card pictures. Does anyone have any tips? I'd be so grateful! Thanks for stopping by the blog!

Going to the Chapel...

Yesterday was a day for surprises. My dear friend Vicki sent me a birthday present--the CTMH seashell stamp set that I have been admiring! She also sent a sweet penguin stamp. The penguin is all ready for a day at the beach. Oh, and she sent the most beautiful cards, so pretty! Thank-you so much, Vicki!

And...Jenn sent me this card to thank me for the blog candy she won. I love this card! So, I am thanking Jenn by CASEing her sketch. Is that okay, Jenn? Should I have asked for permission first? I hope you like the CASE! Brent and I are going to his nephew's wedding this week so we need a card. I think they'll like this one.

Spooky, huh? I'm not a big Halloween person. As a teacher, I was just always trying to keep the peace until it was over! Let me tell you a story about a first-year teacher...the first year that I taught, I taught first grade. I thought it would be fun to dress in a costume for the class party. Well, there wouldn't be any time other than lunchtime to change, so I changed (into full clown gear) and went to pick my class up from the playground. Pure chaos. Total. ALL afternoon. Oh, the things I learned that year...I miss those kids so much! Good grief, some of them are teaching school now! Can you believe that?

Anyway, the owner of the company I now work for was born on October 31, so we do it up big at work. We stop everything at 10:00 and people put on costumes, trick or treat from cubicle to cubicle, and eat punch and cookies. We even have a big jack o'lantern carving contest with cash prizes. Because we have lots of professional artists in our office, the pumpkins can be pretty amazing.

So, back to matters at hand. The colors for the challenge are Basic Black, Really Rust, Gable Green, and Bashful Blue. As soon as I saw black, I thought of WitchyBella. I snuck some So Saffron in there because I needed it for a background color. My camera will not pick it up, but the black card base is cuttlebugged with my new webby embossing folder.

But, I passed them by tonight and chose my new Little Tees from Gina K. Then I dressed the tee up with my Wise Owl set from Papertrey Ink. What fun! Tomorrow, though, it's back to the Bellas. Welcome to the Neighborhood!

Well, it must be Monday. Jamie hasn't posted the Bella Sketch challenge yet and I'm starting to get a little bit concerned about her. But, in the hopes that everything is okay at her house, I worked on a different project. We have a new editor starting at the office this month, so we've started a goodie bag full of things that will make her office more comfortable. I collected several things, but wanted to make a Bella sticky note holder too. I had a great time making it, but now the picture won't upload. Wouldn't you know? Told you it was Monday. So, in case I can upload the picture later, I'm going to type in the details now while I have a minute. Thanks for stopping by--hope your Monday is going well!

ETA: The picture uploaded! If you haven't seen one of these before, all you do is take the back off of a pad of sticky notes, stick the pad directly onto the frame (over the cardstock square), and place it on your desk. It puts a pad right our there in the open for you or for visitors. I've found that it works better if you only use a half-pad of sticky notes. The whole pad is too heavy and seems to keep falling off.

My warning, if you want to make one of these is to plan your colors around the sticky notes. I made one once and thought it was bee-yoo-tiful. Then I put the notes on. Blech! Just keep it in mind. :)

For a Birthday Boy

Tonight's featured stamper card was a quick one. I chose this card to CASE, I liked the simple design. I changed the image, the colors, and the background paper.

I spent most of the afternoon re-organizing my stamping room. I love the room so much, but I just don't think I've found the most efficient set-up yet. We went to Lowe's Hardware after church to buy a specific storage piece and, at the last minute, I purchased a different piece. I'm not sure that I made the right choice. But, I'm not sure that the other one would have been better. I'll keep working on it and, one day, it will be right.

One thing I'm really becoming happy with is my paper storage. I bought some tab files from an Ebay seller. I had a set, but they were just for the SU 48 colors. This set had all of the SU colors ever made! In addition, I bought another file box and some more folders so I could make a folder for each color. Now I have a place for all of my scraps! Little by little, my stamping room is getting there! So, today, I spent more time organizing than I did you ever have days like that? :)

A Challenge-Inspired Beach Bag

Of course, when I saw today's inspiration challenge, I had to put my own beachy spin on it. I had so much fun coloring these seashells with my Copic markers! Nothing blends like Copics, I'm telling ya! This was an interesting project though, because I worked on SU Naturals Ivory cardstock. It seemed to suck the ink right out of the markers. I'll be curious to see whether the coloring fades right away or not. Either way, I had a great time making this challenge card. Thanks for stopping by!
