For a Purl of a Girl

Tonight's card is for Bella Sketch Challenge #35. I flipped the sketch to make room for Knitabella, she's a bit wider than your average Bella. :) I had to use Knitabella, though. Our office librarian has a birthday coming up and she loves to knit. I also had to use pale blue because, much as I can't understand it, she's a Tarheel fan. Sigh...I guess some people have to be. So, happy birthday, Dottie!

A "Berry" Blissful Boutique

What's almost, almost, as much fun as shopping for rubber stamps? Shopping for purses! I love purses! I think it's my love of all things storage-related that makes me such a purse freak.

I'm not sure what I was thinking when I set out to paper these purses. I almost turned back a couple of times, but I made it through and I think I want to shop in this boutique! My first thought was to call the card "Ode to Berry Bliss" because it is my favorite SU paper ever, but I'll stick with this title for now.

If I had a better camera, you could see the metallic gold details and the frosted hardware on the purses. Ah well, you can use your imaginations this time, I guess. Oh, and the Prima Fancies. They are such cool flowers. Thanks for stopping by!

Spread a Little Sunshine

Here's the Bella Color Challenge for this week: More Mustard, Summer Sun, and Garden Green. This is my first card with the new Memento Ink and I recommend it. It dried quickly and worked well with the Copics. And, you can't beat the price! I bought mine from Kim at My Favorite Things.

And, an update on the shower challenge cards. I was fortunate enough to win one of the challenges! I won the sparkle challenge with my Togethah Forevah card. Thank-you, Christy, for a great image! It's so much fun to work with. Overall, I think the shower was a big success. I hope that Sparkle enjoyed it as much as I did. We have a wonderful group of women on the Bella forums.

It's a rainy weekend and I have a lot of stamping plans. Oh, I'm so glad not to have to go to work today! Hope that you have lots of good things going, too. Thanks for stopping by.

Shiny, Happy People

Hooray for Friday! And, I finished my last card for the Sparkle Bridal shower challenges! Whew! This challenge was to create a card that...sparkles! I had a hard time with it, I really don't go out of my way to add glitter to things or to make things extra-blingy, but I'm happy with the way it finally turned out.

I started with the cutest bride and groom image ever! I love his top hat and her updo! And, how can you not love an image where the boy gets the little blush?! Fun! To make these sweethearts sparkle, I painted his lapels, top hat, shoes, pant stripe, tie, and her headband with Crystal Effects. Then I gave her dress and his flower a good coating of Stickles. Finally, I decorated her necklace, earring, and shoes with liquid pearls.

Happy Belated Birthday, Em!

Here I am, one day late, with another yellow card! Goodness, what will I do if PTI ever stops making Lemon Tart? I love it so much!

This card is in honor of the Queen Bella's 36th Birthday. Shannan is hosting a birthday challenge on the Bella Forum. We love you, Em! Hope it was a great one!

I pulled out an old technique for this one. First, I brushed a thin line of Duo glue on each petal. Then I dusted the tacky glue with microfine crystal snow. It goes against my former school teacher rules about glitter (no glitter! yikes!), but it makes the daisies look frosted and pretty. Wish I could get it to show up on the camera.

Here Comes the Bride!

This is the second card for Sparkle's Shower challenges. The challenge was to use Sparkle's colors: khaki, red, and white. I really wanted to use Felicity Whitelace, so I colored her with my eggshell marker. Then I put A-Muse microdot jewels on her dress.

Time to Get Cozy

Big news today! Today is Em's (Stamping Bella's) birthday! Happy, happy Birthday, Em! To celebrate, she is offering free shipping on orders over $45 through July 1st. She is also releasing several new stamps. After you're finished reading my blog :), go check out Em's blog!

Sparkle is going to marry her Brent on July 5th, so we had a bridal shower for her last night on the Bella forum! Jamie and Laura planned some fun challenges, oh boy, are they challenges! So, this is my first card.

Something old: I've been hoarding these buttons for years! I love buttons.
Something new: I bought this DP at my LSS last week. In fact, I bought it because it was sitting out on the table, they hadn't even put it on the display yet.
Something borrowed: The basketweave fold is from a template that I borrowed from my upline for one of my first workshops about five years ago.
Something blue: I guess you can see the blue.

I have to tell you, I told my Brent (my DH), "I have three bridal shower challenges and one birthday card challenge to post by Friday at 8pm!" He said, "and isn't tomorrow Bella Color challenge day?" Well, I just about fell over. I guess he does listen, after all. :)

Such a "Purr-fect" Challenge!

Today is Bella Sketch Challenge day on the Bella forums. Jamie really outdid herself this week! When I saw the sketch, I immediately wanted to use three images so I tried to think of three stamps that had a similar theme. The cats were a natural choice.

I love this PTI paper. Nichole Heady comes up with the best names, but I may have to argue with her about the Summer Sunrise paper. It seems more like Golden Honey to me. It's so pretty. Thanks for visiting today!

Postcard from the Edge

Ahh...today felt like a coloring day. So I colored this scene while I thought about, what else? The beach, of course!

I've learned so much from the friends on the SCS forum. But, one friend in particular has taught me so much-- about Stickles, shopping for dots, and friendship! As it turns out, she is a CTMH distributor so, of course, I had to ask for a catalog! These beachy stamp sets jumped out at me right away. The packaging for CTMH stamp sets is too cute! They come in little plastic envelopes that close with a snap. What fun! I am in love with the sentiments in the Do Nothing set, but the images on this card come from the Daydream set.

My Favorite Mediums

When I started stamping today, I couldn't decide how to work with this set. So, I mixed it up a bit. I watercolored her; then I paperpieced her dress, hat, gloves, and shoes. When it was time to put the card together, I got out my sewing machine and stitched the strips onto the base. A little bit of this, a little bit of that, suddenly there's a card!

Go Pack!

I am a huge NC State Wolfpack fan so, of course, I had to make Pompomabella into an NC State cheerleader. I know you can't tell but, after I colored her uniform with Copics, I covered it with red flocking. It turned out like red felt, pretty cool! Thanks for visiting today! Go State!

Blowing Kisses!

Today's card is for Bella Card Challenge #33. The colors are Only Orange, Almost Amethyst, and Pink Passion. I used the dots again and they are my favorite thing about this card. I think it does look like she is blowing kisses.

I tried something different (for me) with the sentiment. I'm just not sure that I like the way it worked out. Maybe it would be better if my ribbon was a true Pink Passion. I may try it again sometime, I like the diagonal look of it.

Dot Heaven!

Today is a happy day! Emily at Stamping Bella has developed a new embellishment that she calls dots and there are dozens and dozens of choices. My friend Vicki and I split a big order with her sister-in-law and mine came today. I am in dot heaven! I had to use three of them in tonight's sketch challenge card. Oh, they are so much fun! The three that I chose are small, glittery and light-cocoa colored. The card is for Bella Sketch Challenge #33.

For Patrick, the Jock

Before I tell you about the card, let me tell you about my dad. Today is his birthday. Happy Birthday, Dad! My dad was in the Air Force for 30 years and he has always kept in touch with his family by writing letters. At least once a week, he would write to his parents and then, when we kids left home, he would write to us. Isn't that something? Now, I am fortunate enough to live about 3 blocks away from my mom and dad, so I don't get letters anymore. But, he writes to my nieces and nephews every week. I made this card for Dad to send to one of my nephews. I think they'll both like it.

Back to the Beach!

This weeks' color challenge took me back to my beach theme. Sparkle chose Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, and Brilliant Blue for us this week. Anyone who knows me knows that this one was tough! I'm a huge NC State Wolfpack fan and it's really tough to see my beloved red on a card with Duke Blue and a color that is almost Tarheel Blue...can you see it? Is it just me? I guess it's the red, white, and blue time of year, though, isn't it?

I hope you had the chance to hit Ellen Hutson's Friday the 13th sale today. I ordered a beach chair stamp (more beach themes!) and a cupcake stamp. Since I've been reading Marianne's Copic marker blog everyday, I've really become interested in the Lockhart stamps. I especially like the vegetable and flower couture, but I don't have any of those. Someday, maybe!

"Owl" Always Love Dad!

I don't know about you, but I think the hardest cards to make are cards for men. This set from Gina K. seems just about perfect for a masculine card, especially for my dad. He's into birdwatching. I love that this owl is watching over its nest, just the way my dad watches over his brood (though we are all good and grown up). He's "owl-ways" there for us! :) Happy Birthday, Dad!

Let's Hang Out!

This card is for Bella Color Challenge #31. The colors Sparkle chose are: Certainly Celery, Summer Sun, Chocolate Chip, and Taken With Teal. I used one of Stamping Bella's new fairy images, told you I'm a beach girl! I tried to give her legs a little pink, because that always happens to me. What do you think?

Technically I guess she should be saying, "hang ten", but if she's going to hang with me, we're going to be hanging out--hanging out with friends, hanging out by the pool, and hanging out of the back of our bathing suits--ack! What's up with that? See you at the beach!

Caught in My Net!

Check out these cute crabs! I have a weakness for all things beachy! Last week, my husband and I made our reservations for this summer's beach trip and this card explains how I feel about the whole thing--crabby about having to wear a swimsuit, but thrilled about making a splash at the South Carolina coast! Don't you just love the beach?!

For some reason, I decided to mask the two crab stamps together. I like the way it turned out, even though I had so much cutting to do. I may do it again sometime, although I think these crab stamps are each cute enough to stand on their own.

Enjoying Life with VeggieBella

Well, I guess I'm not out of the yellow phase yet. Hmmm...can't explain it. This is a birthday card for my Mom, so I hope she's not reading this! (I think she thinks blogs are a piece of technology that she's not quite ready for!) This card started with Jamie's Sketch Challenge, #31, on the Bella forum, on Splitcoast Stampers. When I saw the sketch, I immediately thought of this stamp. I found this great DP for Veggiebella and this challenge gave me the perfect chance to put the two together!
